Pedro and me

Today I will tell you about a comic, "Pedro and me" :-)

It´s a fantastic comic I discovered through a friend, he gave it to me last Christmas. The comic tells us about  several topics: the relation between people, homosexuality, love, life and death .... but above all  it´s a story about friendship, friendship between two people, the author, Judd Winick and Pedro Zamora. As I have said,

With this introduction I could´nt expect less of the comic. I really loved it. It´s a fun and touching comic in equal parts, the design is impeccable, the author's ability to capture the features, expressions, situations ... is unique. So I recommend to anyone who likes this kind of reading to buy and enjoy it.

The argument; our two main characters (and some more) are called to participate in a reallity on MTV, "the real world".There they both make friends, Judd, an early American artist trying to make his niche in the market and Pedro, a gay and HIV positive since he was 17 years old, working in an education program on HIV and sexsual. During his stay in the house they will live many good times that strengthen their friendship heretofore unsuspected.

Pedro and me is a true story. A formidable testimony of friendship and fighting prejudice and ignorance, as well as Judd's homage to a brilliant and wonderful young man, Pedro Zamora.

 

Pedro died on 11th November, 1994, after making a great job educating people throughout North Americans about HIV. He didn´t want that happened to him happened to them, He wanted to give people the opportunity to choose, and to have information about it.

 

A highly recommended book, I hope you enjoy, shudder and surprised as much as I did the day I read it. Greetings!

P!nk

Today I would like to tell you about p!nk, one of my favorite artists. Here we go :-)

His real name is Alecia Beth Moore, she was born in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Besides pop singer she is songwriter, dancer, acrobat and actress.She rise to fame in the early decade of 2000 with his first song "There you go", followed by great commercial successes as "get the party started ", "dont let me get me", "just like a pill" .. . breaking charts throughout the world. Prizes, awards, top chart positions and thousands of fans Abal to this great artist.

For those who do not know about she, I will hang some videos in this post, which I hope you like it :-). I like  P!nk and I like his style and spirit of transgressive rock. While beginning his music was more commercial (all stars in their early music have had more commercial, I think) as was winning his audience, his music matured. She is always controversial issues in a groundbreaking and shocking example of this is the next song, family portrait:

I decided to hang a live video instead of the official videoclip because this interpretation really makes me shudder. His voice breaking, as not only sing but also to interpret it, the own song... manages to convey many sensations at once. This song is special to me, (besides being a very beautiful theme, so that tells) unfortunately I have lived a similar situation, and I think this song is very successful in many of the things that count. Really great.

This video we just saw, is part of his "funhouse tour", this specific action is recorded in Australia, where they recorded the DVD for sale. I really would like to have seen this tour, who knows me knows how much I love this singer and  the great concerts ... the problem is that she don´t came to Spain, so I could have gone to Germany, but I didn´t find the time, work, you know ... I'm sorry now :-(

Another good song is Dear Mr.President:

I don´t want to get into disputes over politics (I hate that kind of discussion) I will not comment anything about the video, it speaks for itself;-), regardless of the message, which of course I agree (ops, I said it, :-P), nobody can deny the great strength that she has on stage.

There are so many P!nk´s songs that I like... that I wouldn´t know which to choose... I don´t want to bore you with many videos, although I am sure that you have enjoyed as much as I :-), so ... I think their last two singles are a good choose :-), the first "Raise Your Glass", broke with great force and a catchy beat, the pink once more transgressive fighting against the world, the second, "F ** king perfect" , Talks about people who are different from us, or those situations where we ourselves have felt different, and tells us why not?, we feel inferior to others, or to criticize those who it is... there are beautiful songs.

Finally, I would like to share some videos of his latest spectacular tour, I look forward to her return, she just being a mom (or will be in the next few days, she hopes the baby in spring), but has vowed to return to the attack as the child can say "mama" XD, and she has advanced  the next album will be less commercial and more rock than the others, I am anxious to hear it!. Hopefully all this will come soon, and his upcoming tour is as good as the previous one, of course someone who isn´t going to miss;-) ME!

I think it´s a video full of beauty and harmony, I wish to draw so well!! ( perhaps one day some of my drawings hanging on a post :-) ), back to video ... I think the author has great talent, plays with the forms, caressing, the spear and picks up, fall apart, become intangible, disappear and reappear, to fade ... seems to be there ... I really loved it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and I will convey the same feelings as me, greetings!

first post and howie

I´ve created this blog with a single purpose, to learn English. How? talking about topics that interested me, such as music, books, games, films, astronomy, cooking recipes... anything from my daily life but ALWAYS written in ENGLISH, in that way, I will can learn from my mistakes and gradually improve the languaje. I hope that if someone who spaks english some day read the blog to criticize and correct me on the things I write badly.

A few days ago I read a blog where the blogger was wondering "How does one begin blogging?" well, I think I´ve already started, but even so that question remains hovering over my head... I think I´ll start by introduce me. I´m an Spanish boy 26 years old, my name is Víctor J. and as I said, I´m writing in english to learn it. Why learn english? well, I think english is necesary for traveling the world in almost every country can understand you if you speak english and spanish, that´s my main goal, and I hope to gradually get it.

In this first post, I´d live to talk about a comic that I love and I recently purchased the third volume. It is caled thw youg lovecraft (El joven Lovecraft). I put a strip:

I love this comic, casual style and beauty captivated me from the first day I read online several years ago. Its authors, Bartolo Torres and José Oliver, began to publish online strips, and I was pleasantly surprised the day they published it on paper, since  that day, there are 3 books have come to sale.

Howard Phillips Lovecraft, writer, misanthropic, "catphile" and compulsive reader, was the genius of horror fiction who gaves us the cycle of the cthulhu mythos and forever changed the notion of gender lerning from Poe, Maupassant Hope Hodsong et al. But before he became cult author, Lovecraft lived a truly magical childhood and youth. All that world of children would help him shape the adult would cosmogony. These comics are a chronicle of the youth apocryphal and not ever told, except in lying-lived Lovecraft biographies.

Through the main characters as the very Lovecraft, Siouxie, Glen the ghoul, Rammenoth... and many more, we will visit the children of this popular foreign author a fun way, which, although not a biography true, uses various events and moments of real childhood to weave this story that could well have happened in this way.

If someday you have the opportunity to read it, I recommend it, is a very entertaining and fun comic, with wich you surely will enjoy :-)
